At Yates, all of our service personnel are industry certified irrigation technicians (CIT) working under strict guidelines set out by Yates Custom Lawn Sprinklers to ensure that you receive the highest quality service our customers have come to expect.

To honour our service contracts, we have enlisted what we consider to be, the best irrigation technicians in the Ottawa area. Residential or Commercial, our CIT's are fully competent and capable of take care of all of your irrigation needs.

Service Visits Explained

Spring Start up: here's what we'll do

  1. Introduce water into your system at a controlled rate to avoid damage from water hammer.
  2. Inspect all operations of your automatic controller.
  3. Program zone times for efficient use of water.
  4. Replace dead back-up batteries with new alkaline batteries so that a power failure won't wipe out your programming.
  5. Inspect your zone control valves for winter damage and leaks.
  6. Inspect all of your sprinkler heads, checking for leaks, plugged nozzles and slow rotation that would impede the proper distribution of water. We check for frost heave that may allow a lawn mower to destroy the head.
  7. Inspect the operation of your rain sensor to ensure your system will not water unnecessarily.
  8. Perform minor repairs immediately, whenever possible, and flag any repairs for which we must return.
  9. Waive the normal Service Call Charge for all repairs initiated during the Spring Tune-up visit.
  10. Provide you with a detailed checklist of all work performed.

Note: additional charges apply for non warranty parts or labour exceeding your allotted start up time.

Scheduled Check-ups: here's what we'll do

  1. Perform a complete inspection of all system components as per Spring Tune-up. (Steps 2-10)
  2. Inspect your lawn and garden areas for dry spots and make the necessary adjustments.
  3. Reprogram your controller for the current seasonal conditions based on historical weather data.

Winterization Service: here's what we'll do
(Required for all Rainbird system warranty coverage):

  1. Use a high capacity air compressor so that we have the volume and pressure to reach the farthest sprinkler head on any zone and blow the water out of it.
  2. Take care to prevent any sudden burst of air from causing your fittings or sprinklers to separate.
  3. Ensure that the air speed is great enough to blow out the water, but not enough to cause thermal damage to your pipes.
  4. Note any deficiencies so that they can be repaired in the spring.

Note: Service packages are not transferable from a previous residence to a new residence.

Remember, based on the size of your sprinkler system, your package includes a certain number of man-hours per visit. (Call our office for details). This allotted time will be sufficient to perform the work required in 90% of cases. However, based on the size, age and design of your system, additional time & material charges may be incurred. With the success of our Rainbird Pro Software, any time over the amount indicated above will be billed to your account in 6-minute increments along with any non-warranty materials required.
